Evertz Delgadillo, Mayor of El Sauce, Nicaragua, was elected last November when the Sandinista party (FSLN) won the majority of Nicaraguan municipal elections. Because of US opposition to the Sandinista Party the State Department has increased its intervention in the electoral process of next year’s presidential election.

El Sauce is the sister community of Rochester’s Ciudad Hermana (a task force of Metro Justice) which has organized delegations there for over 20 years. It also has assisted and helped fund schools, water, scholarships, agriculture and micro-lending projects.
