We hope many ROCLA members will attend Jonathan Moller's lecture Our Culture is Our Resistance: Repression, Refuge and Healing in Guatemala, on Thursday, September 22 at 6 p.m. It takes place in the Dryden Theater at the George Eastman House.

His new book with photographs and text, with the same title as his lecture gives testimony to his solidarity with the people of Guatemala. Its publication has been greeted with acclaim and received much press attention in Mexico. Over a span of ten years, he photographedMaya refugees in the jungles of Guatemala and became a "human rights "accompanier

living with communities of people who returned to Guatemala after years in Mexico. Some of his most moving images are about the exhumations of those killed in the civil war of the eighties.

It promises to be a powerful experience to see projected slides of the photos in his book and to hear him speak about the effort it took to produce his book. See you there!
